So what do you do when it happens? When the worst happens, what do you do? Have you ever wondered or asked that question? I wondered, but never allowed myself to delve too deep into it. That is until the worst happened.

Now I have had a lot of bad days and bad calls that have stayed with me and they probably always will. You know the ones, the ones that never quite go away, then become a part of you, even change the way you do things, but what do you do when you are the bad call? When the call goes bad and you become the call.

Officer Down – My Husband & I’m Dispatching…

Every dispatcher has a call or a phrase over the radio they never want to hear. I was no exception. On my shift, we seemed to get very bad calls more frequently than others. We’ve heard things no one should have to. We had an officer get shot after a pursuit, a fireman lose his life and children not make it out of a structure fire. While handling these emergencies, the toll it takes on your emotions is a hard on you. Little did I know, these were the easier of the “bad” calls.

Change… Something I’m Not A Big Fan Of But It’s Necessary!!!

As we enter into the winter months and the changing of the seasons it got me to wondering about “change” and how it impacts us.  Change can be scary, fun, exciting and terrifying all at the same time.  Do any of us like to change?  I propose to you… if we don’t embrace change, we don’t grow personally.  Change is something I’m not a big fan of but it is mandatory if I want to become the person who I want to be.  Genuine, loving, self-reliant and all those characteristics I admire.
